Painted Fusibles

While I was working on painting and stamping fabrics for the post cards I noticed that when I start making them that there will need to be a little more dimension to the post cards so I decided.. I'll paint some fusable.. So Wonder Under to the rescue. Time got away from me this morning. I started painted and ended up being late to work.. LOL Now what to do with this stuff. I used Marabu Silk paints... I'm so bummed because Marabu is no longer available in the states. Time to start sending my money overseas I guess. Let me know what you think

Post Card Central

Well I finished the first batch of postcards. A couple of first for me on this batch...
1) 1st time completing them ... Woo Hoo.. I know I'm way behind Times
2) 2st time using foils... Gosh I need to use all these supplies I've been collecting over the years.

Weekend of Play and Work

Well I started to work on the 2nd series.. painted on the flour resist... alas but did not tape it down or stretch it... so when I checked on this morning it was all curled up.. now way was I going to attempt bleaching in this rolled mess... so its soaking in the sink right now to remove the flour and Ill try again... so I decided as I sat in the middle of my studio that I was going to work on some Post Cards.. I need to get a dozen or more done so I took some fabric and temtex and going back to the printmaking class.. boy has this come in handy I stamped on fabric.. and did some foiling which I had not done yet.. so here are some pictures

This was the piece of Fabric I worked from and then I stamped on 2 pieces the following designs using black textile paint.

This is a piece of Silk Scarf I had dyed then I stamped a bronze Lumiere Metalic over it.. its very suble but addes a nice texture

This is some Dupioni Silk.. I used the stamps I created when I did Shirley's Round Robbin and then Added foiling inside the squares.. the squares make almost a 4x6 size so this is going to be interesting when finished..

I know I owe a few people some postcards so Ill be sending some of these out and keeping some for my stash for Chicago.. if anyone wants to exchange any let me know. As always I appreciate comments as I work through things because I feel like I can learn from other peoples observances... I know you shouldnt add glitz to just add glitz.. but when the mood strikes you...

Stripe Series #2

Ok.. its taken me too long to get to this.. so lets dive in.. this is the start of my 2nd piece in the 12 part series Stripe. I've been starring at this for a while. Reviewed it with a few friends and now thinking about getting this done over the next week. Its interesting to me to find that when I am forced with a challenge how my perspective changes. I look and look at this and say I can't see where to go.. whats next? Then I start questioning ok why did I start this to begin with to even lets use this excuse... The fabric isnt talking to me... I had to laugh I was reading an article in Quilting Arts with Tim Gunn from Project Runway..Make It Work Von!!! I just had to laugh.. so here it goes.. more to come as I complete it.

Shirley's Round Robin

Thanks Wil for forwarding the pic of Shirleys fabric I had worked on... ok... on this one.. I had gotten the fabric from Shirley and she had dyed it.. I then overdyed using midnight blue I believe and I twisted and wrapped it around a pvc tube and overdyed it. I had folded it in half before wrapping in hopes of creating a mirror image...... Hope Wil has fun and look forward to seeing the results.

Wil's Very Yummy Fabric

OK Wil, bet you thought you werent getting this back huh?? Wow after what Shirley done to it.. I just wasnt sure what to do.. I loved what she did... so what I was going to do had to be minimal. Since I have been playing with PearlX Powders... I took blue/green metalic PearlX and mixed it with Gac900 and water... then I just did a wash over it with a paint brush on both sides It gave it a noticeable but slight pearl sheen to it... I just loved it.. is hard to part with it.. but off it went.. Sorry again for taking so long.. the exchanges and layering was alot of fun...

Catching UP

Shirley's Round Robin... Shirley this should be there soon! Wil stamped it with Bubble pack with a metalic..... Well I wasnt sure if dye would work over the top of the paint.. havent tried that.. and I've been in the experimental mood with PearlX Powders... so what I did was again going back into the printmaking class I Cut out some sponges made in Weird Square shapes... to me it was opposite of Circles.. and I made a mixture of JoSonja Textile Medium, Gac900, and Bronze Copper PearlX Powders.. I think it gave an interesting texture and design.. I hope you like it.... So sorry it took me so long to complete.

oh my goodness its been a while

Since I have posted... soooo Sorry... Its been a crazy few months and even crazier before that.. this is my busiest time of year for work so I may be sparatic.. I was reviewing some pictures.. and came across the fabric round robin I did...

This was from Kate and Wil..... Kate used gutta to draw the crosses and Wil sprayed overdye a ruby red.... It was so pinkish/red and some purple so I did the following

50% Gac 900 50% Artist Acrylic Purple.. then I added a dab of Liquitex Pearlescence... mixed it up and then I cut out of that sponge stuff that is flat the designs and got them wet so they expanded... and woo hoo.. The Print class finally payed off :) This is my really first attempt on fabric for printing. Kate this was sent off to you a few weeks ago I hope you got it ... keep in touch.. sorry its been so long..
